Went for a boat trip in the morning with my sis, BIL and my sis's colleagues Mandy and her husbad Ian. Mandy and Ian are true-blue Aussies ("I've had my brain removed, so I'm totally Aussie", says Mandy), and they bought a boat recently, so they very kindly invited us to go boating.
We went off to Coode Street near Mill Point to get to the jetty, before Mandy and Ian came along towing their boat. It was a nice powerboat which could comfortably seat 7, and I got to see how a boat is reversed into the water via the tow-trailer. After that, Ian drove the boat around to the jetty to let all of us get in, and we were off!
We went to quite a few places, starting from Mill Point, to East Perth, and the scenery was just glorious! All those places by the river looked so absolutely gorgeous. I have even been to some of those places and had no idea that the river beside them was the Swan River. Really really beautiful. Too bad my girlfriend fell sick, as she was supposed to go too. Next time then. =)
We stopped at a nice little inlet, and came to shore for a nice picnic. It was just nice to bask in the sun and eat our food, with no one about and only our boat floating a couple of feet away. Really nice and peaceful.
On the return journey, Ian allowed me (also Ian) to drive the boat. It was fun, and very easy! The steering is basically like driving, and the only other thing you need to control the boat is a lever that thrusts the boat forward when you push it forward, stops when you pull it back to the middle, and reverses when you pull it back. The only thing difficulty was navigation, as I didn't realise that there were certain parts of the river you had to stay away from due to shallow water or unwater obstacles. (collectively known as "foul ground") Ian taught me how to look at the GPS system on the boat and navigate on the "highway". Cool!
Enjoying the ride

Nice houses at East PerthAfter the trip, I went home and took a shower before heading down to Murdoch to meet Meisi. She was feeling better already, and we watched "The Bachelor" on DVD. The movie was quite funny and is pretty nice. It has a too "feel-good" type of feeling about it though.
Dinner was pineapple fried rice, tom-yum soup and sambal squid cooked by Baron and Joey. I felt bad that they seemed to have deliberately left out most seafood in the menu for me. And all 3 dishes were really nice, though I ate only the sambal and left the squid alone.
Sunday:
Went to pick Meisi and Joel up from Murdoch, before heading to McDonald's at O'Connor for breakfast. Joel also had to go get a "special order" for a friend Issac, whose birthday was today. He asked for 2 big Macs to be made into one, and when he presented the birthday burger to Issac later in church, the burger had a candle on it. Pretty cool yeah?
After service, Meisi and I went to Northbridge for lunch. We had Vietnamnese food at Tra Vinh, and the food was pretty good. My Chilligrass Lemon Chicken with rice was really good. Yummy!
After lunch, we went to Harbourtown for shopping, looking for a gift for an old friend in Singapore. We finally bought a blue Polo-tee for him. Hope he likes it. Meisi bought Elizabeth Arden's "Green Tea" perfume at a steal, while I got a pair of brown leather shoes. Nice nice... But shopping for the whole day was so tiring...
We had to go for Issac's birthday pot-luck at night, so we went down to IGA at Broadway for some groceries. After that, we rushed back to Murdoch to cook our dish, which was tacos with a beef and lettuce filling. The pot-luck was at Issac's flat, and we had so many yummy dishes.

Birthday boy Issac and his spread of tacos, fried beehoon, potato bake, sambal squid, seafood in cream sauce, tom yum soup, 2 different pizzas, ham and egg omelette.

Front row: Joey, Raine, Lydia, Anhui, Meisi, Issac, Denise
Standing: Huiyi, Baron, Ian, Jonathan

The food was delicious, and after the dinner Anhui and Huiyi brought out a Strawberry Meringue that Anhui had made for Issac. Some confusion arose as to the terminology between cake and meringue but meringue prevailed, endorsed by the said creator Anhui. The after dinner entertainment was basically just goofing around with a "ball-gun", some blackjack etc... Joel dropped in sometime after dinner as well.
Tired tired tired... Tomorrow I'll have to start studying for my mid-sems... Argh...
