I got a weird gig this year, Santa Claus at a temple near Paya Lebar. Of all places. When I first reached there, the monk was not even informed that a Santa Claus had been hired. But the people there were really friendly and nice. The events co-ordinator there was this "botak", secret society looking character, who asked me to help myself to the free beer and food. Initially, he was a little scary but after a while, you could sense the warmth.
One thing I didn't like about this gig though, was the changing room. I was told it was the "meeting room", but it turned out to have statues of Buddha and other gods everywhere. Kinda inappropriate to change there, I feel.
Ritz Carlton's Christmas Bash was the last Santa show I did for 2006. The party was pretty glamourous, with tickets going at about $200+++ per pax. The only other Christmas party I saw which could rival this one was Fullerton Hotel's one, with chocolate fondue fountains, a candy buffet spread, and lots more other goodies for the kids.
We hosted the children segment of the party, and it was really a stressful job, especially with the kids being especially riotous on the Bouncy Castle, which I was in charge of that day. You won't believe the stunts those little ones can come out with on it. Heart attacks man...
But it was fun because while setting up, my boss Aaron and I had a little fun bouncing around "testing" the thing. Ok, we just wanted to have fun.
Traders Hotel was pretty memorable, especially since the people there were really nice as well. Their GM kept coming up to us and talking nonsense, since he was really bored. Suggestions like putting some "ecstasy" into the candy floss to get the party going etc, which was kinda funny, since his kid was among the guests. When asked which one was his daughter, his reply was, "The sexy one!". Really funny dude.
My boss Aaron has a poor dress sense. Ok lar, he was in his costume. He's stealing food from the buffet here by the way. The GM is in the background.
I was the Master of Ceremony for Rachel's wedding. It kinda seemed a bit surreal to be standing there, but I guess life is really unpredictable. Ruohao has plenty of funny jokes about it, by the way. There was some bit of panic and chaos the night before, but thank God that everything turned out fine. Phew...
The ceremony was held on the rooftop of Changi Village Hotel.Raine visited me on one of my second last gigs at Harbourfront Centre. I think this pic is pretty nice. Guess cutie monster must have been a good girl this year for Santa to pose for a pic with her. But I know she doesn't need any more presents cause she's got one thing that can't be bought already! It is good to see her so happy in love! =)
