Woke up late today after the blowfish massacre yesterday. Changed and went straight for a late breakfast and early lunch with my parents and my sis and her b/f at this Chinese restaurant called Rising Sun for a dim sum buffet. By the way, did you know that buffet is actually french for "get up and get it yourself"? Anyway, at $11 per head, and considering the quality of the food, I would have to say that the price is pretty reasonable. Gorged myself silly, made mental note to do more exercise today.
After lunch, we headed down to Carousel for some shopping again. My dad and I both bought a suit each at this shop, the suits were very nice and very cheap, at $69 and $99 respectively!!!! Gosh, they are practically giving them away, and the material is not too shabby too. Seriously it was a very good deal. (if my dad bought one too it would be a very good deal as he is President of the Bargain Hunters Association, which comprises of him, my mother and Joel's parents actually). Oh yeah, another little piece of Australian Trivia. Did you know, that kids have to put on a safety belt when they are sitting on those seats on supermarket trolleys? Kinda quaint and cute but you see many errants kids, or rather, parents in the supermarket. I wonder if the kids will get fined or get points deducted from their trolley licenses...
Went to shop for my book shelf after that. We stopped by Makros and Big W, both are shops well known for their cheap furniture and good stuff. I would compare them with Ikea, but Ikea focuses a lot on design as well and sells mostly furniture while the other 2 focuses on price and durability and sells about anything that would interest a guy (power drills, gardening implements, potato chips etc). I got my bookshelf for $59. We stopped by this shop called King Kong, where nothing in the shop exceeds $10, kinda like a discount store. The store had lots of interesting bargains but what really attracted me was the air-conditioning!!! Goodness, today was a really hot day. It was 42 degrees the first day I arrived but the subsequent days were like around 22 degrees to 28 degrees but today was a staggering 39 degrees as well!!! The sun was melting me down!! But the weather is still more bearable compared to Singapore as you don't really pespire much here due to the dry climate.
Headed home after that to fix up my bookshelf and hit the garden again. There were a lot of trimming and sweeping to do, as well as bush that we wanted to remove. I was nominated to be the official shearer and set upon the bush with startling ferociousness. Roar!!! But darkness fell before we had finished uprooting the whole bush and so our plans are to be postponed till the next gardening day. My arms are sore from all that shearing as well; that bush was some tough thing with cactus like branches. Tough, but ugly...
Tried to upload pictures from my phone to the comp but didn't manage to do so. Damn... I'll have to try to find out the problem but that also means no pics for my fans in the meantime. Had a good dinner, some new product of my mum's imagination cooked up by my sister. Gotta say that it was really good and my only regret was there wasn't more of that potato based dish. Had a bit of fun in our after dinner activity, playing this game called Bishi Bashi on the comp. Gonna go to bathe later, do a little reading and go to bed. Nitey nite, folks.
