Anzac Day

Firstly, a correction for yesterday's blog. Today's Anzac day, not Labour Day as previously mentioned. Anzac day is a bank holiday, and I have no idea what it is, so don't ask. Anway, I drove to school today as my sis didn't go to work. All right my first trip alone in Australia wasn't too bad, and despite some fears of losing my way (it's a long drive, about 45 minutes to school), I didn't lose my way at all. The thing was that the place I was supposed to park at was supposed to be an all day free parking, but it has now been turned into a 2P. What that means is that yuo can only park there for 2 hours and you have to pay. That's the system in Australia, if a place is 1P, you cal only park for an hour, 2P 2 hours and so on. They disregard how much you pay. Even if you paid for a hundred hours on a 1P parking lot, after 1 hour and 1 minute you may come back to see a parking summons on your windscreen (ok that's an exaggeration maybe 1 hour and 5 minutes). And the parking fines here go from around a hundred bucks.

So anyway, the all day free parking I was counting on me failed miserably, and the university does not allow parking for freshmen (people studying for the first year there). I had to go to the nearest public parking lot, which quite logically will be packed since all the freshmen will probably park there. And it was. I cried.

Well here's what actually happened. When I went there, the parking lots were filled. I drove around the parking lot and I saw a lot right in front of me. Right there. My jaws were hanging somewhere around my belt and I started drooling. And I parked right into the lot singing praises to the Lord. Woo hoo!!!

Anyway classes finished early today, and so I went home early, around 4 plus. My sis had guests again, as today is a holiday so I went over to say hello. Performed a few tricks upon request, and my sis's colleague's teenage son was floored. I have started a new fan club in Australia. Went jogging after the guests left, and did gardening again after that. Man it's really good exercise and it gives you a sense of fulfillment. I mean growing things may not sound very good to all of us but it seriously gives you a sense of satisfaction. We planted some lawn seed so hopefully we will get a lovely lawn of carpet grass by the end of this autumn.

Nothing else of incident to report. Logging off now.
