This post is actually for yesterday and today, as I didn't manage to have squeeze out any time for blogging yesterday night.
Anywayz, yesterday was the first day of school. I attended 2 lectures (no tutorials cause it's only the first week), namely, the dreaded EBS and Microeconomics. The lecturer for EBS was one Dr Nazim Khan, probably muslim and he came across as quite a fierce fellow. Quite strict when it comes to time keeping and I'll quote him on this, "If you come late for lecture, don't come again and if you want to leave early from lecture, don't ever come back." Ah... A man after my heart. The other lecturer was an affable chap called David Butler and was quite friendly, which is rather contrasting if you compare him with the other guy actually. EBS has been marked and officially proclaimed as my most hated subject. For more details please refer to blogs below.
Made some new friends as well, these gals called Cindy and Rachel as well as this guy called Andy Hardy (who is actually malay too but hardy???). Went for a coffee with Cindy after classes and then proceeded home after that for dinner. We're having guests in tonight.
When I reached home around 6.30, the guests were all here. There were Mr Shi and his wife, Uncle Lee Guo Chao and his wife, as well as this old gentleman whom my dad referred to as Principal Hu, and his wife. They were all veteran members of TPCMC, and I can certainly remember Uncle Lee and Mr Shi from my childhood. When we went to the back porch for dinner we were amazed by the huge spread before us. Let's name the courses: Beef Rendang, grilled sausages, sauteed mushrooms and celery, sheperd's pie, grilled chicken drumsticks, fried popiah and ham rolls, served with bread and rice. Absolutely sinful. But I absolutely enjoyed each and every dish. Now a little about each guest.
Uncle Lee was a rather comical guy who kept making funny comments all throughout the whole dinner and referring to himself as a cheeky man. One thing that made me laugh, however, was the way he kept laughing at his own jokes. Most of them were funny but the only person who did the jokes justice was himself as he laughed so loudly that I'm quite sure the whole of Western Australia could hear him. He kept getting reminders from his wife to keep quiet and stop making jokes, which only added to the whole comic effect. All in all a pair of very colourful characters. Mr Shi and his wife were more quiet, and Mr Shi gave me the impression of an old retired scholarly gentleman, while his wife seems to be interested in the making of every dish and carried on a conversation with my mum to that effect. Principal Hu was a very kind looking old man who somehow reminded me of my grandfather, and in matters of bearing they were quite similar. After dinner they all had a nice after dinner chat while me, my sis and her boyfriend did the dishes. It was around 9pm or so that the guests went home.
I woke up this morning at 7.15, and went to school. My first lecture was at 9am and as traffic today was heavier than usual, despite the precaution that I took of leaving early, I barely made it to school at 8.55am and was naturally quite nervous for my first class was with Mr If You are Late... Made it just before 9am with only seconds to spare and then proceeded to be bombarded with lectures all around the school till 1pm, where I took an hour long lunch break before going off to my next lecture at 2pm. Tuesdays are the days where I have a dayload of lectures.
Had dinner with my parents and my sis, it will be quite a while before I will see my parents again as they are going home tonight. After dinner my father indulged in a final game of ping pong with my sis's boyfriend before leaving for the airport, but not before trouncing Ndie. Hugged my parents good bye at the airport, feeling not just a little sad and I will surely miss their nagging. Mum teared a little and it made me nearly tear too, and it was all I could do not to tear a bit as well. I'll miss her and Dad so much, but oh well, July will be here and gone before I know it. Logging off now as I need to wake up early at 5.45 tomorrow morning. It's 10.30 now and I'm feeling sleepy after a long day of lectures. Good night.
