Life is hectic, and will only get even more so, especially this week, as I have 1 exam on Tuesday, 1 assignment deadline on Friday, 1 essay to submit by next Monday and 1 more test on Monday as well. Beautiful.
Went to church this morning, attended a new one called the Perth Christian Life Centre. Service was great, they had a really nice stage, their musicians were real professional and their worship leader knows her stuff. Their level of expertise at their instruments were top-notch as well, coupled with good equipment, I can only say that it was real good. Their worship team consisted of 1 worship leader, 4 back-up singers, 2 huitars, 1 bass, 1 drums and 1 percussionist cum saxaphone. The sermon was fantastic, their pastor delivered an interesting sermon with a very good message served with interesting facts and analogies. Couldn't remember a sermon that had me listening so intently for the entire duration, and I still can remember all the key points and stories used in it up till now. Took 2 pictures of the stage during the short break in the middle of the service, it's not really good but might give you an idea of what the stage looks like. Simple yet professional.
Went to Spencer Village for lunch (seem to be coming here really regularly, the Malay food store auntie can recognise me already), before going home to study. The weather today is real hot, and for the first time, humid. I went jogging at almost 4pm and it was horrible, I couldn't complete my 5.5km for the first time. I stopped at 3km, walked for about 100m, started running again and stopped every few hundred metres. The heat is unbearable, I have a feeling I won't be able to jog in Singapore also. Did some gardening as well today, you can see the entire neightbourhood doing gardening today, as it is green week, a week where any garden waste will be taken and removed for free, including the big stuff like tree logs or anything, as long as it was a plant. After today I can only say that I absolutely hate palm trees.
Went to my sis's colleague's place to have dinner. Chrisitna is a nice middle-aged auntie staying with her husband Sonny, while their children who are about my age (son still in NS) are still in Singapore. Her rendang and bak kut teh packs a punch man... Real good. After the meal she wanted to introduce my sis and her fiance to her neighbour, an Indonesian guy called Marcus who is looking for badminton buddies. As it turns out my sis and her fiance are looking for the same so an introduction was in order. While we were at Marcus's place, it started raining and we could hear the loud pitter patter of the rain on the zinc roof of Marcus's back porch. After about half an hour we ran back over to Christina's house and had a nice warm cup of tea each. This was when my sis commented that Christina's house seems much quieter as we can't hear the sound of the rain, compared to Marcus's house where the sound was so distinct. She wondered aloud if it was because the roof was plastic. This was when Christina looked out the window and said mildly, "I think it's because it stopped raining." I was still laughing when I was going home in the car.
