Woke up at 6am this morning to the sound of stuff slamming on my window screen. I groggily got up and shut the window so I can get back to sleep. Decide to drop in and take a leak before getting back to bed, but I walked past Wayne's room and realised he was awake. After doing a series of double takes, I went to investigate his wherabouts, as it's pretty rare for him to be up and about at such an unearthly hour. I found him in the garage, struggling to fix the door. As it turned out, there was a storm earlier this morning, and it pretty much destroyed our garage door. As a result, our garage door was unable to open or close. So there I was at 6 close to 7am in the morning, struggling with the garage door in the rain. All I knew is that if we can't fix it, we will have no transport for the day as our cars can't get out.
At around 10am we gave up, and I went to change and prepare to go to school by bus. As I was stepping out of the house, our neighbour Bran came to ask if he could help. The friendly old chap had brought along his tools to lend us a helping hand. I hung around for 10 minutes and left for school before I became really late.
Upon reaching home after school, I found a light of salvation parked on my driveway (see picture). Wendi had also hurt his finger shortly after I left, quite badly as well, as the garage door hinge that was attached to a spring had recoiled. The only lucky thing about it was that his finger was lacerated but not chopped off, though it came close to that.
Went jogging in the evening, and saw that some houses had only part of a roof left, some even had no roof at all! There were trees and debris on the streets and sidewalk as well, it was really quite scary to know that all this had happened this morning. We were considered lucky in a sense that we lost only a garage door, while others have literally lost the roof over their head.
Oh yes one thing that could be learnt out of this was also the reaction of the insurance company. When we called to inform the insurance company about the damage, we couldn't get through even after calling for an hour on their claims line. We tried calling their sales line and got through immediately. The sales people diverted us to their claims department and soon we were talking to the dialtone again. Frustrating...
Got back my EBS results. I scored 80/100 for the test and 62/65 for the assignment! Whee~~~ Haha. Real happy about that but still apprehensive about the 3rd and final test this Friday. After mugging a weekend away I still feel inadequate for the test. Lord help me. I have another 2 assignments to rush after this, and after that... Exams!!! Yay... I'm screwed!!! I need some Prozac...
All work and no play makes Ian student of the year... Sigh...
