Study study study... I am actually starting to sprout crap to my friends in Economics lingo... The funny thing is, they claim that they can understand it better, especially my impersonation of our lecturer Dr Nazim together with a wierd blend of Dr Evil in Austin Powers. They swear that they will never forget the image of me holding my pinky to my mouth while saying "linear regression.." in that evil tone. Muahahaha... And that was Statistics, not Econs, by the way.
It's already Thursday, and I'm still ploughly through the vast multitude of topics and chapters for my exams on Monday and Tuesday. I think I'll only have time to go through everything once, which is barely enough.. Lord help me. I need a lot of help, and energy.
Attended the Microeconomics review lecture conducted by Dr Jo Voola (oooh la la) today. I can't think of a better word to describe her other than "scatterbrain". She seriously has her head lost in the clouds, and I think it was a total waste of my time. Only about a 1/4 of the entire course attended her lecture, and the "crowd" was trickling away as the seconds ticked. I left 45 minutes into the 2 hour lecture. I really can put the time to better use. Let me list the stupid things she did:-
1) Couldn't get the mic to work,
2) Spent 15 minutes talking about what she will be going through and exhorting herself for the hard work she spent putting up this lecture,
3) Forgot to bring her notes on indifferent curves (and that was like... Hello!!!?? We came here to listen to you talk about general equilibrium etc, not kiddy stuff like indifference curves!)
4) Taught beyond the scope of game theory and covered stuff that were not covered in the course
5) Someone commented that she was inaudible, and she turned up the mic volume, only that she wasn't even using the mic in the first place. The mic was happily swinging like a pendulum on her hands, while she continued to jabber on. It took her 15 minutes to realise that you have to clip the mic near your mouth in order for it to work, no amount of volume cranking will have helped otherwise.
6) Dropped her notes all over the floor
7) Generally seemed disorganised and talking incoherently
8)Asked us if she was turned on (she was referring to her mic), which sounded misleading.
9) Confused us with her own version of economics
The list goes on and on, but I left early so I can't tell you what else happened. Went to look for the course co-ordinator to ask some questions that I had wanted to be answered at the lecture, and was met with the very embarassing "Oh, why aren't you at the Jo Voola's lecture?" question.
My garage door is fixed, we have a brand new one and it's better than the old one too!!! But this week has been bad weather all the way, with thunderstorms forecast till Sunday. I haven't been able to go jogging for the past few days due to the storm. I feel fat... Especially with all the snacking going on while studying... How to lose weight? Sigh...
By the way guys, these are the dates of my papers. Please pray for me. The stars indicate difficulty. * = Ok lar, ** = This one is pretty tough, *** = Up the lorry liao lar!!!
13th June, 9am - Introduction to Finance***
14th June, 9am - Microeconomics: Policy and Application**
18th June, 9am - Monetary Economics***
18th June, 2pm - Elementary Business Statistics**
As you may have noted, none of the papers are ok lar, they are at least pretty tough, so prayer cooperation will be appreciated for this one. This is a pretty long blog, the longest in weeks anyway. I gotta go. Drop me an email or friendster message, tag on my blog, or send your donations to my Singapore address.
