So instead of staying as far away as possible, everyone stayed nearby, presumably to catch the fireworks as it goes off and not a small proportion of people took out handycams and cameras to capture the action, and nearly everyone of them hoped to be the one with the award-winning footage and perhaps even win the Putlizer (sp??) prize. Not to be outdone and overcome with the "kiasu" Singaporean spirit, I took out my handphone and started snapping away as well, after which the "kiasee" Singaporean spirit took over and I hurried as fast as I can in the opposite direction, hoping to put as much distance between me and the threat as soon as possible. It really behooves me though, how people can sit down there and watch it. If it was a real bomb threat, the terrorist who planted the bomb must be laughing his ass off. Anyway the bomb did not go off at blog time, or I am already so far away that I didn't hear it go off.
Anyway, here are a few pictures of the footage.
